Keeping records is a legal duty
According to GOV.UK, every LTD must keep accounting records showing all money received and spent, its assets, and the debts it owes or is owed.
UK · Monthly records & reports
We record your LTD's bank and payment activity every month, categorise it as income and expenses and reconcile it with your bank. Your income and expense report is ready each month, and your records are complete for the annual accounts and the Corporation Tax return.

Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping is the regular recording of your company's money movements. The difference from accounting: bookkeeping is the record-keeping done every month during the year; accounting is preparing the annual accounts and the Corporation Tax return from those records at the end of the financial year.

When records are kept every month, the annual accounts and CT600 are prepared faster and more accurately, without chasing missing documents.
